MEET MS. DURPHEY
WHO AM I?
As a second-year teacher at CPMS, I am so excited to learn and grow alongside you all this year. I've had six internships and student teaching placements in my time at Franklin College—three of which were at Clark Pleasant Middle School. So I guess you could say I've been a Warrior for quite some time now! WHERE AM I FROM? I was born in Detroit, Michigan, but I have lived in Indiana for most of my life. I went to Shelbyville Middle School and Shelbyville High School, and I graduated with a degree in English and secondary education from Franklin College. At FC, I had a journalism minor and was the editor of my school newspaper. WHAT DO I LIKE TO DO IN MY FREE TIME? When I'm not teaching, I love reading, crafting, watching the TV shows Friends and Reba, spending time with my family, and playing with my handsome labrador retriever, Bear (pictured a lot here). I've recently found a love for traveling and exploring. At FC, I traveled to Rio de Janiero, Brazil. and learned so much about Brazilian culture. Two summers ago, I lived in Denver, Colorado, and I got to hike and adventure. WHAT WAS I LIKE IN 7TH GRADE? In seventh grade, I was a 100% classified nerd, and I'm proud of it (and still would classify myself as a nerd today). I loved school, reading, and writing. My favorite book was Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech. My favorite TV shows were Zoey 101 and Friends (some things don't change). I played the flute in the school band and participated in jazz and pep band. I played volleyball for my school and my club team. I loved learning and participating, and now I strive to help my students have as great of a middle school experience as I had. |
